Are schools dumbing down our kids?

January 26, 2012 1 comment

Reblogged from My Blog In a minute Mom:

My mother who is currently 84 has been telling me to take my kids out of public school for years, and homeschool my kids instead. She has been warning me that public school sytems have been dumbing down our kids for years. When I had one child, I thought that would be a great option, but when my second child came along, I soon realized that I would have a more difficult time trying to teach two kids at home, considering they are 7.5 years apart. I also knew my limitations, thus realizing I could not …

Why has the U.S. Government failed to deport George Soros to France where he has been convicted of insider trading?

DEPORT SOROS NOW Commentary by Jim Campbell George Soros is without a possible doubt the most evil un-American communist who has benefited from capitalism which apparently he claims to abhor. Why the State Department has not deported him long before he became the puppet master of Obama, Holder and their ilk is unfathomable. If George Soros had a pair he would commit suicide or at least play this song as he goes to sleep if in fact he does thus saving the extradition and court costs of deportation. EXCERPT: …

while they are at it they can deport Obama’s Aunt who is living here when she had been told she does not meet the criteria as a political assylum from her country. but she still is here from last I heard about her she is living rather well on our tax dollars

Auschwitz: Ignoring History, Predicting the Future – Tea Party Nation. By Alan Caruba The late Israeli scholar and diplomat, Abba Eban, (1915-2002) said, “History teaches us that men and nations behave wisely once they have exhausted all other alternatives.” Similarly, Winston Churchill said, “You can always count on Americans to do the right thing—after they have tried everything else.” In Churchill’s case, he was referring to the U.S. reluctance to become involved in another war in Europe, …

This is straight forward country thinking… Jeff Foxworthy on Muslims: 1. You refine heroin for a living, but you have a moral objection to liquor. You may be a Muslim 2. You own a $3,000 machine gun and $5,000 rocket launcher, but you can’t afford shoes. You may be a Muslim 3. You have more wives than teeth. You may be a Muslim 4. You wipe your butt with your bare hand, but consider bacon unclean. You may be a Muslim 5. You think vests come in two styles: bullet-proof and suicide. You may be a Muslim 6. …

“One showed up at the airport in Hawaii, and they shot it,” Denver Holt, director of the Owl Research Institute in Montana, told the New York Times.“It’s the first ever in Hawaii and they shot it!” Holt was expressing his dismay at the sad news that a snowy owl, one of the most magnificent of all American birds, had journeyed from its Arctic home all the way to Hawaii and been shot dead for its effort. He was quoted in a Times story about the sudden, mysterious surge in snowy owl sightings all …

I do not relish the job these works HAD to do, they are instructed to keep human life safe, too bad they had to kill it, I would have a hard time pulling that trigger, hope they have some grief counseling for them.

For those in Wisconsin, please keep your head in the game, Pro-Walker Post

January 25, 2012 Leave a comment

In case you did not get the title I will again give you a chance to reverse course and back away from the blog, you can choose to agree or disagree with me, BUT I am tired of the lame-stream media in Wisconsin and their Walker bashing reports.

Did I vote for Gov. Walker, even though this is a personal matter I will admit, YES I did, he is doing what he promised to do, reign in spending and make us more fiscally sound.

When we get rated for our bonds, and yes we all have bonds no matter what state you are in, town, city, all of them have bonds, that is municipal bonds, that is how they make money so that they can build things, supply the needs of the populace etc. if you need more information than that… go pick up a book on government spending and how they make money.

I would have liked to have seen in the news somewhere, I don’t really care where, but I have not seen any real reporting on anything having to do with this recall effort. Yes we have heard from the Democrats on their motivation, and even a few citizens that don’t feel that they were told the truth.

Our state thanks to the Whinning Democrats are in a perpetual state of voting and campaigning.

The other thing they don’t seem to understand is that this recall even if Gov. Walker is removed, which I personally doubt, reason being most the people who are Pro-Walker have really been keeping their mouths shut and their heads down.

Guess we don’t call me most people huh?

I have a right to believe that the Gov. did what he said he would do, he has lessened the hold of the Unions on the throats of the taxpayers of the state of Wisconsin.

I don’t believe that many of the teachers are too happy with WEAC either esp. since it came out that the insurance they have been paying for was at an inflated price and many of them have been able to get insurance at a lower rate, and the coverage is more complete.

That goes for most of the Union people if they would look at what they have gained, I have been watching and I still have not seen a mass exodus of State of Wisconsin Employee’s positions opening up due to the Union not being in control… maybe they are waiting for the recall, if Walker stays THEN maybe they will leave those jobs that “nobody else could do”.

We have a fantastic University System in this state and you mean to tell me there are no qualified individuals that could do their jobs? maybe not to the level of incompetence that I experienced lately when dealing with a State Employee group. Can you say DMV? yeah there were more people complaining in there (employees) that they don’t get paid to hand out the information for getting ID’s.

Really? Hey buddy move over I would gladly take over hand the documents out and smile once in a while, the growl is not becoming to you, as for your counterpart at the end of the desk, she was kind, friendly, and she even smiled, if I had a way of recommending her for a raise or some other thing I would gladly do it.

I wonder if the Democrats realise that their “little” recall is going to cost the taxpayers over a million dollars? I am not saying they don’t have a right to have 1 but if you have a recall because of just cause fine, but he is not out killing our state like our previous Gov. who was more than willing to sell out our state for his and his cronies in Madison.

He is and has been doing what he was elected to do, put our state in the black, and in this market of declining jobs across the nation to have a state that has not had its bonds go down, like our Neighbor to the south (Illinois), we have a plan to have a surplus soon.

I could stomach this recall if he had done something wrong like leave the state to avoid an unpopular vote *shame, shame, shame* but he has done his best to put us in a good stance.  For those of you that have not heard, the recall walker website was purchased just after he was elected into office, that’s right they had this planned BEFORE the Union vote and all the other votes he has passed.

I for 1 enjoy my rights to speak freely, carry a gun if I have a permit, and to elect whom I want, I don’t believe that the vote will go another way when they finally have the vote sometime this summer, since voter ID will be in place there is a lesser chance of voter fraud, at least I hope so.

For all you that have suffered through my rant, Thank you, for those of you that disagree, that fine, for those in the news media, JSONLINE, FOX 6, TMJ 4, I would appreciate BOTH sides of the recall, really am tired of the one-sided rants of the democrats in this battle, I know they cry and whine the most, but that doesn’t make them the only ones with any skin in this game.

Fox 6 does the most balanced of the above listed stations, 1 person that ALWAYS seems to give equal time is Ted Perry, but the rest of the crew seem to lean differently.

Eric Holder’s Political Prosecution of Pro-Life Educator Thrown Out of Court.

This administration is nothing but a bunch of frauds attempting to dismantle this country 1 law at a time.

Bernie Madoff is a saint compared to these guys, if they were not in office and “duly” elected they would be in jail for fraud if they were regular citizens.

America please open your eyes to this fraudulent administration and vote them out of office in 2012.

Few thoughts for preventing ID Theft while applying for jobs

November 23, 2011 4 comments

I know with 9% unemployment in this country there are many out there this holiday season that are looking for a job, my youngest son has been applying for a “real” job for months now, and with our family discussions around the dinner table focused on what he has done right/wrong and why he has not received any offers of employment. I have a few ideas about his applications as well as things to do and not do when applying for jobs.

My husband said the other night “I think the reason he isn’t getting call backs for jobs is because he doesn’t put his Soc# on his applications” .

To my sons defense he has learned well from his mother to attempt to protect his Social Security number at almost all costs, and I have to admit this could be a reason that he hasn’t received any offers for employment.

Identity theft is not just with a Social Security number, it can happen with your name, your address, as we have seen there are even cases of people who have had their social identity stolen or taken over.

Due to regulations and laws across this country the workforce is at a disadvantage, if they wish to keep their identity safe they do not want to supply their Social Security number on the numerous applications that they are sending via email, dropping off or otherwise applying for job openings., but if you do not include your number on the application the company may incorrectly assume you do not have one or not legal to be employed.

unfortunately if you do not supply your Social Security number you are probably not going to get an interview, more than likely your application will hit the circular file, ie trash can.

Employers that are asking for people to entrust them with their information when they apply for a position with their company need to understand that they need to protect that information, if someone applies with a position with your company and they have in place of a social security number “will supply upon hire” you should allow for that person to at least interview for a position, it is not due to the fact that they are illegal or any other reason that they usually do not put that information on the application, but due to the fact that many employers in the past have not safeguarded their applicants information.

Employers in the past have not ”legally” had to safeguard the information for applicants that they have not hired, BUT any business that does not safeguard that information in some form or fashion runs the risk of having worse than just a tarnished name in the business world, and there are a few protections out there for the applicant now as well when you apply with a company and you supply your personally identifiable information that information must be protected, per the Federal Trade Commission, FTC, and information from them is available at www.ftc.gov.

When I was looking for work and sending out massive amounts of resume’s I didn’t have my Social Security number on my Resume, but I did have my address, email, and phone numbers, they need to contact you right?

Once I became educated about identity theft I curbed some of the information I have on my Resume’s, I have an email that is just for my resume and for job searches, it is easy to  establish a second, or third or even fourth email address, be sure that the “job email” does NOT represent you differently than you want the potential employer to see you, I know that when you see karokejunkie@wherever.com you can laugh, but do you want your new boss to know your personal info before you have a chance to dazzle them with your efficiency?

I also kept a journal that only had the information for my applications, I had little notes for each entry, date applied for job, dates of follow-up, any response I received back from them ie job filled, still looking, etc. but I also had a note for if I had supplied an application or my resume, this does come in handy for my follow ups with the companies, if I had not supplied my resume, I would ask if there was a specific person I should ask for within the company for future follow ups, and with these notes I would also keep information that I had found out about the company, the position that I had applied for.

When doing your follow ups, I also suggest that all people do so in a professional manner, in other words, make sure you do not have kids crying in the background, TV on loudly, or at all, I always went to a room without anyone else in it also made sure that the door was closed, and even locked on some occasions.  I didn’t do this because I like to be alone, but so that the person on the other end of the line doesn’t hear my family in the background. They do not want to know what is on Bravo, Lifetime, or any other TV station.

If you have a varied background for work history I always suggest that you have resumes that reflect the different areas of your experience from the companies you have worked for, example;

I worked for an oil change place, when I was there I was the detail manager, but I also did oil changes, helped with maintenance, also with the car wash as well as did numerous functions for the detail department, if I am applying for a position as a manager I would focus on those duties from that job, if I were applying for being a auto-detailer at an auto shop I would focus on my detail abilities, painting, waxing, oxidation removal from a car’s paint job.

I do not advocate lying on your resume nor an application, but if you know about the position you are applying for as well that you know what skills you possess that will help the business to be more productive it is not a lie to tell them about the area of your skills that  can help them.

When you apply to a company it is important to log in your journal which resume you used, as well what information you know of the company.

I have put a few links below for a few good articles on the subject of getting a job, and how to go about it from others, be sure to read the one of “how not to apply for a job”;
